Final: St. Thomas More 9, Washington 0 Last week, the Washington boys soccer team took on St. Thomas More Academy and fell 9–0 in a match that never really settled in their favor. The Griffins came in organized, disciplined, and surprisingly balanced — a co‑ed roster that played with sharp passing and constant movement. Washington struggled to match that pace, and the game tilted early. St. Thomas More controlled possession for long stretches, forcing the Panthers to defend deep and absorb pressure. Washington tried to break out when they could, looking for counters and quick transitions, but the Griffins closed space fast and kept the Panthers from finding rhythm. Even with the score line, Washington kept competing. The back line stayed active, clearing dangerous chances and battling through repeated attacks. The midfield worked to disrupt passing lanes and stay connected defensively. Effort wasn’t the issue — the Panthers stayed locked in and played to the final whistle. It was a tough night, made tougher by the fact that the boys were up against a co‑ed squad that executed at a high level. But the response is what matters now. Washington will regroup, reset, and get back to work with the same resilience they’ve shown all season.
